Between 1970 and 1979 Roger Lewis worked in the operating theatres of a busy hospital
in North London. During this time he gained a solid grounding in Urology,
General Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics and Anaesthetics. 1980/81 he was with
Eschmann, a UK company, selling urological and other disposable products. In
1981 he first met Jim Vance, and introduced the Vance Products Incorporated (VPI)
range of endourological accessories into the UK. VPI subsequently became Cook
Urological. Jim Vance parted company with Cook and formed Van-Tec. In 1984 Roger Lewis and Jim Vance started Lewis Medical Ltd as the UK distributor for Van-Tec. Van-Tec subsequently became the urological division of Boston Scientific which retained Lewis Medical as a distributor until 1994. In addition to endourology, Lewis Medical teamed up with MMS (Medical Measurement Systems) in Holland which manufactures urodynamic equipment. Sales of urodynamic systems and urodynamic accessories is now the main business of Lewis Medical. |
